The first important step towards achieving visual freedom is your initial consultation at HLV. It is during this appointment that we are able to fully assess your suitability for laser vision correction. This appointment also allows you to experience our centre and become comfortable and confident with the professional and complete services provided at HLV.

The initial consultation is a comprehensive ophthalmic examination that takes approximately 2 hours. It combines computerised vision testing and sophisticated corneal mapping technology to determine your suitability for laser vision correction. During this examination you will be provided with an explanation of laser refractive surgery, its benefits, alternatives and expected results. A complete ocular health check will be performed by one of our experienced ophthalmic surgeons to assess for any underlying issues relating to surgery.

If you are deemed suitable for laser vision correction and decide to proceed with treatment, in some cases, surgery can take place on the same day as your initial consultation. This is all performed under one roof, in our modern rooms located at The Junction, Newcastle.

If you are looking for a quicker alternative to the initial consultation, HLV also offers free preliminary testing with an experienced optical technician. This takes approximately 20 minutes and will give you an indication of your suitability for laser correction.
