KAMRA is a treatment for Presbyopia, which affects many people over the age of 45. Presbyopic patients experience a decline in their ability to focus on near objects, due to a natural loss of elasticity of the lens.

The KAMRA inlay is a mini-ring with an opening in the centre. It is much smaller than a contact lens and lighter than a grain of salt. It is actually just 3.8 mm in diameter! It is an alternative to monovision and lens surgery. The device features 8,400 high precision, laser etched micro-openings along the surface to keep the cornea healthy. The KAMRA inlay improves the depth of focus of the eye thus allowing a clearer image of objects that would normally be out of focus. The inlay has the ability to restore near and intermediate vision but allows the patient to retain distance vision.

KAMRA has been available for several years in Europe and is getting FDA approval in the USA. HLV is one of only a handful of centers in Australia being granted the rights to provide this treatment for patients. The KAMRA inlay is subject to suitability and requires an initial consultation.
